Royal Challengers Bangalore settled on Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Sarfaraz Khan on the retention day for 17 crores, 11 crores, and 1.75 crores.
Kohli was a must for RCB as the Indian skipper is best in the country with the bat. Apart from that, he also add value being a captain. However, the most important aspect which favored Kohli was his fan base. He will be paid an amount of Rs 17 Crore.
Coming to AB de Villiers, he was expected to be retained by the franchise. He though left beat Chris Gayle, who has not been retained, to be the only foreign player retained by RCB. The former captain of South Africa will be paid an amount of Rs 11 Crore.
RCB is the only franchise to retain an uncapped player in Sarfraz Khan who didn’t play a single game in the last season as he was ruled out of the tournament before the start due to an injury. In 2016, Khan played five games scoring 66 runs while in 2015, he amassed 111 runs eight innings at a strike rate of 156. 33. Sarfraz is paid Rs 1.75 Crore.
