India lost the first Test by 72 runs at the Newlands in Cape Town, and a lot of questions got raised on the Indian team’s combination with which the side came out to play in the first Test.

The Indian team management dropped Ajinkya Rahane from the first Test despite his impressive record on away tours. The Indian batting was in shatters in both the innings of the first Test.

The bowlers did their job pretty well in both the innings, especially in the second innings, as they dismissed the host on 130. However, the South African fast bowlers had the better of the Indian batsmen, rattling the tourists for a mere 135 while chasing a small target of 208.

The Indian team will be looking forward to making certain changes to their side and make a comeback in the series, as another loss would take the series away from the Indian team.

Let’s have a look at the Indian Predicted XI for the second Test-:

    KL Rahul

Shikhar Dhawan will have to make way for the right-handed KL Rahul in the second Test. Dhawan had a disappointing first Test, and his struggle against the short pitch deliveries was visible completely. By bringing in Rahul, the Indian team will have a more technical batsman at the top against a fiery South African bowling line up.

    Murali Vijay

Murali Vijay has been India’s most impressive batsman on the away tours. Known for his ability to leave the balls on off stump, Vijay struggled in the first Test and looked vulnerable against the swinging ball. However, his record on previous tours works in his favour.

    Cheteshwar Pujara

Cheteshwar Pujara was India’s most impressive top-order batsman in the first Test scoring 26 in the first innings and then falling to a fantastic ball from Morne Morkel in the second innings.

    Virat Kohli (C)

Virat Kohli has been India’s middle-order mainstay for some time now and had a fantastic run in the home season. He struggled in the first innings scoring just five but looked in fine touch in the second innings scoring 28 but couldn’t win the match for his side.

Ajinkya Rahane has been India’s most-prolific run-scorer on away tours and dropping from the playing XI raised a lot of questions, and many former cricketers have asked the management to bring the right-handed batsman back in the second Test.

    Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma got included in the playing XI in place of Ajinkya Rahane. Sharma failed in both the innings but with the rest of the batting line-up failing as well, playing an extra batsman would be beneficial for the Indian team in the second Test.

    Wriddhiman Saha

Wriddhiman Saha took ten catches in the first Test, which is the most by any Indian wicket-keeper. However, he had a forgettable match with the bat.

Hardik Pandya was undoubtedly India’s man of the match, as he rescued the Indian team in the first innings scoring 93 off 95 and then picked up the wickets of both the openers in the second innings.

    Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvneshwar Kumar took four early wickets in the first innings of the first Test and then was handy with the bat in both the innings.

    Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami picked up three wickets in the second innings and gave India a breakthrough by picking up the wicket of Hashim Amla early on day four.

    Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah made his debut in Cape Town and got the better of danger man AB De Villiers in both the innings of the Test. Bumrah picked up four wickets in the first Test.
