The Indian Cricket team on Wednesday cancelled their scheduled practice session on the eve of their first Test match against Sri Lanka due to unpleasant weather conditions at the Eden Gardens where the first Test is scheduled to take place from November 16.
An India team management official said:
“Due to rainy weather, the practice has been cancelled. The team will remain confined to the hotel today.”
It was drizzling right from the morning and sky was covered with clouds, which meant even if the men in blues went for the venue for the 9 A.M practice sessions, they had to practice at Cricket Association of Bengal’s (CAB) indoor facilities.
“Light rain will continue for the next two days. The weather will clear up only after that,” a weather department report said.
Sri Lanka will play three Test matches, three ODI’s and three T20I against the host. Earlier this year, India whitewashed Sri Lanka when they visited the island country 9-0 across all the formats. Virat Kohli & Co. will look to continue their dominance on the field and continue the winning streak.
