The Dambulla International Stadium, which is set to host the first ODI of the five-match series between Indian and Sri Lanka, on Friday witnessed a battle featuring two self-confessed football giants – MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and newbie KL Rahul – took on each other in a football clash during the practice session.
In the last decade or so, Football, world’s biggest sport, has been incorporated in the Indian cricket Team’s training session as a fun way to warm-up before picking up the intense drills. It is almost a norm these days for Team India to commence their training with a football session. This jovial style, however, sometimes end up becoming friendly intra-squad battles as witnessed today.
MS Dhoni, who was famously a goal keeper during his younger days, took on the young duo of skipper Virat Kohli, the ardent Bayern Munich lover also the co-owner of ISL franchise Forca Goa and KL Rahul.
There were great scenes as the trio took on each other while others like Rohit Sharma and Yuzvendra Chahal watched from the sidelines. Going by today’s action, it can be assumed that these three men are unarguably the best footballer in the current Indian side.
The official Twitter handle of BCCI shared the pictures from the contest with the followers.
