• Age is just a number where Arjen Robben is concerned.

Despite the fact he’ll be turning 34 in January, the Bayern Munich winger is as fast, dangerous and clinical as ever.

Robben made 26 appearances for Bayern in the Bundesliga last season – five of which from the bench – and managed a hugely impressive 13 goals and nine assists.

Injuries have plagued the former Chelsea man’s illustrious career, but time and time again he’s recovered and never shown any signs of decline.

Age will catch up with Robben at some stage, of course, and when he does eventually retire, he’ll forever be remember for his signature move: cutting inside and curling a shot into the far corner.

“You have to do it at exactly the right time,” Robben said recently when asked why his ‘cutting and shooting’ technique is so effective.

“It’s still a surprise because I often do something different – even though people say: ‘It’s always the same thing from Robben’.

“Then I give the ball to [Philipp] Lahm, he crosses and [Robert] Lewandowski scores. A lot of it is intuition.”

Robben has one year remaining on his Bayern contract and there’s a growing sense his time at the club is coming to an end.

Bayern are in the middle of a rebuilding process given Philipp Lahm’s recent retirement and the ages of some of the players, suggesting Robben might need to start looking for a new club.

And according to the Daily Mail, there’s one potential suitor in the Premier League.

They claim Jose Mourinho is a big fan of Robben having managed him at Chelsea and would be keen to work with him once again at Manchester United.

Mourinho has plenty of wide options already but Robben, despite being 33-years-old, would still be his best option at Old Trafford.

United fans would certainly have no qualms with signing the Netherlands international as they bid to end their Premier League drought this season.

Mourinho wants to sign one more player before August 31, too, and while he would prefer it to be a new defender, he could hardly say no to Robben if he became available.

A front three of Robben, Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford: now that’s a salivating thought.
