    The weekend started with a 4-0 victory for Red Devils

    Swansea City 0 – Manchester United 4 (Eric Baily 45’, Romelu Lukaku 80’, Paul Pogba 82’, Anthony Martial 84’)

    Like their opening game of the season, Manchester United clinched another 4-0 win and this time in an away encounter against Swansea City. The Red Devils mostly dominated over The Swans on the field.

    Eric Baily opened the scoreline just before the half-time which was followed by Romelu Lukaku, Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial finding the net in the last ten minutes of the game.

    In the meantime, the hosts only managed one shot on target in the whole game.

     

    Double late strikes ended Watford’s seven winless streaks in the Premier League

    AFC Bournemouth 0 – Watford 2 (Richarlison 73′, Etienne Capoue 86′)

    Watford snatched a 2-0 victory in their away game against AFC Bournemouth. After running winless in seven consecutive (6 lost and 1 drawn) Premier League matches, finally, Watford achieved a Premier League victory. However, in the current season, they are unbeaten in the first two games as they had drawn with Liverpool in a thrilling 3-3 encounter before this victory.

    Premier League debutant Richarlison broke the deadlock for the visitors on 73 minutes with a very close-range strike. Etienne Capoue doubled the lead on 86 minutes with a superb long shot from 25-yard distance.

     

    Albion edged out on Kanu’s dramatic day

    Burnley 0 – West Bromwich Albion 1 (Hal Robson-Kanu 71’)

    Dominated Burnley wasted so many chances that gave away the match too. WBA forward Hal Robson-Kanu was the only player to score a goal of the match. Also, that was the only shot on target of the match. Despite playing a controlled game and creating many chances, Burnley failed to put at least one shot on target in the whole game.

    The visitors Albion went down to 10-man for the last moment after goal-scorer Kanu was sent off directly in the 83rd minute. Kanu was shown a direct red card after making an unnecessary and serious contact with his arm on Matthew Lowton’s head. However, 10-man Albion finally survived from that blow as they succeeded to defend their only goal of the match.

     

    Leicester City handed Brighton & Hove Albion a defeat in their first Premier League away encounter

    Leicester City earned their first point in this Premier League season after beating Brighton & Hove Albion by 2-0 in the home game. It was Brighton & Hove Albion’s first away game in their Premier League history.

    Shinji Okazaki opened the account for the hosts in just 52 seconds of the game. Harry Maguire extended the lead on 9 minutes of the second half through a header following a corner.

     

    Ruler Liverpool earned a closing victory

    Despite ruling on the pitch in the whole game, Liverpool only managed to secure a 1-0 victory against the visitors Crystal Palace. Liverpool made total 13 shots on target but only Sadio Mane beat the visiting goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey on 73 minutes.

     

    Southampton won through an injury-time penalty goal in a thrilling match

    Southampton 3 (Manolo Gabbiadini 11′, Dusan Tadic 38′ pen, Charlie Austin 90’+3′ pen) – West Ham United 2 (Javier Hernandez 45′ & 74′)

    In a thrilling game, hosts Southampton beat 10-man West Ham United by 3-2. Manolo Gabbiadini opened the scoreline for the hosts on 11 minutes.

    West Ham’s new record signing forward Marko Arnautovic was shown a direct red card in 33 minutes after he made an awful contact with his elbow on the hosts’ defender Jack Stephens.

    A few minutes later, Southampton won a penalty which was converted by Dusan Tadic on his 100th Premier League appearance for Southampton.

    Just before the end of the first half, Hammers new signing and former Manchester United player Javier Hernandez opened the scoreline for his team.

    On 74 minutes, Hernandez equalized the scoreline with his second goal of the match. But his heroic efforts went in vain after Charlie Austin scored the winning goal for Southampton in the injury time through another penalty.

     

    Debutant Jese scored a solitary winning goal for Stoke against Arsenal

    Hosts Stoke City handed a stunning defeat for Arsenal. Premier League debutant Jese scored the only goal of the match under the 90 minutes of the second half.

    Arsenal tried hard to level the scoreline. Alexandre Lacazette successfully netted a ball on 73 minutes but that was ruled out due to an earlier offside. Visitors other attempts failed to cross the goal-line.

    Huddersfield Town beat Newcastle in their maiden Premier League home game

    New Premier League team Huddersfield Town continued their impressive form in the second week. In their first-ever Premier League home game, Aaron Mooy scored the only goal of the match in the early second half.

    Despite creating more and better chances, Newcastle failed to make successful.

     

    Alonso gave first Premier League victory in this season for Chelsea

    Tottenham Hotspur 1 (Michy Batshuayi 82’ OG) – Chelsea 2 (Marcos Alonso 24’ & 88’)

    Defending champion Chelsea tasted the first victory in the new EPL season, after beating the hosts Tottenham Hotspur by 2-1. Marcos Alonso opened the account for Chelsea in the 24th minute with a superb free-kick.

    The scoreline equalized on 82 minutes after Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi scored an own goal. 6 minutes later, Alonso netted another time for Chelsea as The Blues won the game by 2-1.

    Despite Tottenham developed the game in the better way, Chelsea had the final laugh.

    Sterling rescued Manchester City in a 1-1 draw game against Everton

    10-man Manchester City was held to a 1-1 draw against the 10-man Everton at Etihad Stadium. Wayne Rooney put Everton ahead on 35 minutes with his 200th Premier League goal. On 44 minutes, City down to 10-man after Kyle Walker received a red card due to getting two yellow cards. Just 2 minutes earlier, he was shown the first yellow card.

    After a long effort, Paul Sterling scored the equalizer goal for the hosts on 82 minutes. On 88 minutes, Everton’s Morgan Schneiderlin was sent off due to receiving two yellow cards (his first yellow card was on just 7 minutes of the match). Soon after, the referee blew the whistle with the 1-1 scoreline.

    Swansea City vs Manchester United – It was the first time in 110 years when Manchester United scored 4 or more goals in their two opening league games of a season.

     

    Tottenham Hotspur vs Chelsea – Since August 2016, it was the first home defeat for Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League encounters. In between that period, Spurs were unbeaten in 19 Premier League home games. Before the defeat against Chelsea, Spurs’ last Premier League defeat in the home ground was in May 2016 against Southampton.   

     

    Manchester City vs Everton – Wayne Rooney (currently playing for Everton) became the second Premier League player to score 200 goals. Alam Shearer (260 goals) was the first Premier League player to achieve this feat.
