A goal in football is always valuable but only few goals will be remembered for years considering the artistry and magic in them.

One of such goals was James Rodriguez’s stunning effort against Uruguay in 2014 World Cup.

The Colombian took down the ball on his chest and rattled a spectacular volley from 30 yards to score an absolutely top class goal.

Today marks three years since the goal happened in the World Cup which eluded Fernando Muslera on that day in iconic Marcana.

He scored another goal to help Colombia reach the quarterfinals by a 2-0 win. However, a penalty effort by Rodriguez could not help His nation to go past Brazil in quarters as they perished after their 2-1 defeat.

However, his incredible performances for Colombia throughout the World Cup has ensured that Real Madrid had signed in the summer of 2014 for a whopping £70m.

Considered as one of the best young talents on planet back then, James had played well under former manager Carlo Ancelotti. However, his career took a downslide in the past two seasons especially under French manager Zinedine Zidane.

Los Blancos manager had sparingly used him in entire last season as he is completely overlooked throughout the course of the season.

The 25-year old is likely to leave Santiago Bernabeu this summer as he managed a mere 1824 minutes of playing time last season and was primarily used as a substitute in most of his 32 appearances for the club.

He was even left out of the match squad for Real Madrid’s Champions League final against Juventus in Cardiff earlier this month which clearly suggests he might not be in the plans of Zidane next season.

Manchester United are considered as one of the frontrunners to sign him. It remains to be seen where the Colombian would end up.

The iconic goal at Marcana also won the Puskas award in 2014. Here is the video of the goal.
